Football Game Preview: Newton Eagles vs. New Diana Eagles

Newton will head out on the road to face off against New Diana at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Newton is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last nine games.

If Newton beats New Diana with 62 points on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Eagles took their contest two weeks ago with ease, bagging a 62-6 victory over Warren. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won eight matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.

Newton can attribute much of their success to Izayah Foster, who rushed for 52 yards and one touchdown on only five carries, and Deldrick Samuel, who rushed for 82 yards and three TDs on only 11 carries. Those 52 rushing yards gave Foster a new career-high. Kendray Porter was another key rusher, rushing for 55 yards and one score.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask New Diana). They blew past Elkhart, posting a 58-30 win. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their nine-point performance the game before.

Newton's record is now 9-1. As for New Diana, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Newton beat New Diana 52-42 in their previous meeting back in November of 2019. Does Newton have another victory up their sleeve, or will New Diana turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
