After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Francis W. Parker, Rickover Naval was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Schurz Bulldogs as they made off with a 23-5 win. Considering the Seadragons have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kayla Mateo was incredible, firing off three home runs, nine RBI, and four runs while going 4-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Juliana Senorski, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Rickover Naval was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .696. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Rickover Naval moved to 10-10 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Schurz, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.
Rickover Naval has already played their next game, a 12-8 defeat against Horizon Science Academy McKinley Park on the 16th. Schurz does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
