The Hebron Hawks will venture away from home to face off against the Hammond Morton Governors at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Hebron barely beat South Newton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hawks were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Rebels on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Rebels: they've now won three in a row.

Brenden Brooks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Zac Peeler was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Carter Riley, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Hebron always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Hammond Morton made easy work of Whiting on Thursday and carried off a 14-3 win.
The team relied heavily on Nate George, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcellous McQuay, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Hebron's record is now 10-8. As for Hammond Morton, their record now sits at 6-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Hebron has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Hammond Morton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Hebron beat Hammond Morton 7-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
