If Commonwealth wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Marie Philip, they should've done a better job of containing Xavier DeLeon. Everything went the Marie Philip Galloping Ghosts' way against the Commonwealth Mermaids on Wednesday as the Marie Philip Galloping Ghosts made off with a 67-44 victory thanks in part to DeLeon, who dropped a triple-double on 38 points, 16 boards, and 11 steals. He has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 40 times he's played.

Marie Philip's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Commonwealth, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Marie Philip will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Covenant Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 10, 2025. After both having extra time off, Commonwealth and Waring will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 3:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
