Baseball Game Preview: Nelsonville-York Buckeyes vs. Meigs Marauders

Nelsonville-York is 1-9 against Meigs since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Buckeyes will welcome the Marauders at 5:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Monday.

Nelsonville-York lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Millersport, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's matchup. The Buckeyes were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Lakers on Saturday. The win was some much needed relief for the Buckeyes as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Nelsonville-York let Caleb Rexford and Logan Meeks run wild. Rexford went 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Meeks went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Meeks is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Stevie Blair, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Nelsonville-York was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Meigs). Everything went their way against River Valley on Thursday as they made off with a 13-1 victory. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-8. As for Meigs, they moved to 4-6 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
