Football Recap: Sheldon Comes Up Short

Sheldon's game on Friday was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 21-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the North Salem Vikings. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Irish came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon football rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Vikings are ranked 45th).

Ryker Rohaley threw for 290 yards and one touchdown while completing 74.2% of his passes. Cameron Gilhuber was his top target, picking up 118 receiving yards. On the ground, Justice Parker rushed for 73 yards.

This is the second loss in a row for Sheldon and nudges their season record down to 1-4. As for North Salem, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Sheldon will take on rival South Salem at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, North Salem is set to square off against their familiar foe West Salem at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
