Softball Recap: Atholton Raiders vs. Marriotts Ridge
After flying high against Guilford Park on Monday, Atholton came back down to earth. The Raiders fell just short of Marriotts Ridge by a score of 6-5 on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Marriotts Ridge this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-6 last Tuesday.
Reagan Law was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Law was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Tatiana Maltez-Rosales made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Madeline Skaggs, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Atholton has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9-1 record this season. As for Marriotts Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
