Game recap: Merritt Island High School Football Team defeats Satellite

SATELLITE BEACH, Fla. - Merritt Island (Fla.) saw its 21-point lead shrink to seven, but hung on to defeat Satellite (Satellite Beach, Fla.) 28-21 on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a defensive touchdown in the first quarter, the Mustangs were up 14-7 at the half.

Merritt Island expanded its lead to 14 points entering the fourth quarter. MI scored once in the quarter on a touchdown run by Jon-el Battle.

With the win the Mustangs extended their winning streak to six games. Merritt Island defeated Oviedo 21-3 last week.



The defeat comes as a step back for Satellite, who notched a 10-7 victory over Eau Gallie in its previous outing. The loss broke Satellite's three-game winning streak.

Satellite (3-4) goes up against Rockledge in a 5A District 12 game matchup next week, while Merritt Island (6-0) locks horns with Titusville also in a 5A District 12 game.
