Recap: South Pike Eagles vs. Wesson Cobras
It was a good run, but The South Pike Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 42-20 walloping at the hands of Wesson. South Pike was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 21-0.
Although South Pike took the loss, they still got scores from Lemari Cowart, Martavius Jones, and Devin Johnson.
Wesson found their leader in underclassman O'mari Johnson, who rushed for 123 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, and also picked up 120 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Deshawn Smith also helped out as he racked up 107 rushing yards.
South Pike's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Wesson, their victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-0.
South Pike will take on Port Gibson at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Port Gibson is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Wesson, they will head out on the road to face off against Jefferson County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
