Baseball Recap: Donegal Takes a Loss

Donegal was the 6-1 winner over Manheim Central when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Indians fell 5-2 to the Barons on Wednesday. Tommy Hairhoger was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out 12 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has become a key player for Donegal: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least ten strikeouts, but 4-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Donegal saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sawyer Floyd, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Donegal's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Manheim Central, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-4.

Coming up, Donegal will venture away from home to square off against Eastern Lebanon County at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Manheim Central, they will host Palmyra at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
