Baseball Recap: St. Vincent-St. Mary Starts Season with Victory Against Field

St. Vincent-St. Mary had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Field Falcons on Saturday. The Fighting Irish have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Falcons, too.

St. Vincent-St. Mary's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Justin Pytash, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. St. Vincent-St. Mary is set to face off against their familiar foe Cloverleaf at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Field will take on rival Woodridge at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. This will be Field's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
