Basketball Recap: Jaucelyn Smith Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Lanier

Gainesville lost to Lanier back in December of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Gainesville Red Elephants came out on top against the Lanier Longhorns by a score of 46-36.

Gainesville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaucelyn Smith out in front who posted 12 points. Shailyn Jones was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Gainesville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Lanier, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-10.

Gainesville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 37-31 loss against Chattahoochee on the 25th. As for Lanier, they will be playing at home against Milton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Milton's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matches.
