Baseball Game Preview: River Rouge Panthers vs. Renaissance Phoenix

The River Rouge Panthers will face off against the Renaissance Phoenix at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. River Rouge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

River Rouge took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They came out on top against Chandler Park Academy by a score of 13-8. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

River Rouge let Jeremiah Shelton and Robert Johnson run wild. Shelton went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Johnson got on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases and four runs. Those five stolen bases gave Johnson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Douthett, who earned two RBI, two runs, and four stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Renaissance was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Cass Tech, falling 15-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Renaissance's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for River Rouge, their win bumped their record up to 8-6-1.
