Football Game Preview: Harnett Central Trojans vs. Triton Hawks

The Harnett Central Trojans will head out on the road to challenge the Triton Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Harnett Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 27.4 points per game this season.

Harnett Central took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They blew past Southern Lee, posting a 50-13 victory. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-6.

Harnett Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dj Brown led the charge by picking up 161 receiving yards and three scores. That's the most receiving touchdowns Brown has posted since back in October of 2024. Harnett Central also got a significant boost from Ro'Shawn Towson, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 82 yards.

Another reason for the win was Harnett Central's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Nolan Bullock was especially locked on to Southern Lee's QB and sacked him twice. Jaquan Wynne got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Triton's offense. They took a blow against South Johnston on Thursday, falling 41-0. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Triton's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Harnett Central, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Harnett Central strolled past Triton in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a score of 27-10. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
