Football Recap: Overton Piles Up the Points Against Cushing

Overton won the last time they faced Cushing and things went their way on Friday too. The Mustangs claimed a resounding 42-8 win over the Bearkats. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won six contests by 27 points or more so far this season.

It was another big night for Rylan Holleman, who rushed for 100 yards and a pair of TDs on only nine carries, and also threw for 218 yards and two touchdowns. Brody Brown got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Overton, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Holleman, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Overton pushed their record up to 6-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.8 points over those games. As for Cushing, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

As of now, neither Overton nor Cushing have any future games scheduled.
