Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Franklin Regional

It was a proper cat-fight when Franklin Regional took on Greater Latrobe on Tuesday. The Panthers came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 6-2. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Chloe Lancaster spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Franklin Regional let Ciara Camacho and Toryn Fulton run wild. Camacho went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Fulton went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Camacho is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last nine games she's played. Adrianna Martz also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Franklin Regional kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.

Franklin Regional's record is now 7-3. As for Greater Latrobe, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-2.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Franklin Regional will challenge rival Gateway at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Greater Latrobe is set to square off against their familiar foe Penn-Trafford at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 3.2, the Warriors 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
