Volleyball Recap: MacArthur Takes a Loss

MacArthur was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They fell 2-0 to the Lincoln Railsplitters. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Generals of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2023.

Zahnya Gibbs paced MacArthur's offense, picking up three kills. Gibbs got some help from Casey Jackson and her six assists. Trinitee Sutton controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lincoln to victory, but perhaps none more so than Peyton Sasse, who had seven kills, four aces, and three digs. Sasse has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 28 times she's played. Jayden Behrends was another key player, getting five aces and four kills.

MacArthur's loss dropped their record down to 1-26. As for Lincoln, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-13.

MacArthur will face off against Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Lincoln has already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Bloomington on the 24th.
