Baseball Recap: Kearney Beats Hastings for Their Third Straight Win

Kearney waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Hastings Tigers 9-0. The Bearcats not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 12th (when they won 22-8).

Bryce Andersen made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles.

In other batting news, Kearney let Griffin Novacek and Tysen Cabela run wild. Novacek went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Cabela went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs Cabela has posted over his last 11 contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Loofe, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Kearney was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hastings only posted a batting average of .160.

Kearney's record is now 18-9. As for Hastings, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-11.

Coming up, Kearney will host Norfolk at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hastings has already played their next game (against Fairbury), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
