Football Recap: Byrd Comes Up Short + How To Watch

After flying high against John Ehret last Friday, Byrd came back down to earth. The Yellow Jackets were dealt a 52-24 loss at the hands of the Parkway Panthers on Friday. The Yellow Jackets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-17.

Byrd's loss came despite strong showings from Collin Deere and Christian Maxie. Deere rushed for 228 yards and two scores while picking up 7.6 yards per carry, while Maxie rushed for 99 yards and one touchdown.

Kb Williams was his usual excellent self, throwing for 311 yards and three TDs while completing 86.4% of his passes for Parkway. Williams is crushing it when it comes to passing touchdowns: he's passed for at least three every time he's taken the field this season. Parkway's leading receiver Gary Burney Jr was Williams' top target yet again, picking up 155 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Byrd's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Parkway, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Byrd will take on Huntington at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Yellow Jackets will be up against the Raiders' rather soft defense (which has allowed 48.8 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Parkway, they will square off against Airline at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Vikings have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
