Basketball Recap: Thomas Rouse Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Spartanburg

On Saturday, the Eastside Eagles were able to grind out a solid win over the Spartanburg Vikings, taking the game 62-50.

Eastside's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Thomas Rouse, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 18 points. The dominant performance also gave Rouse a new career-high in blocks (two). Brandon Ray was another key player, putting up 22 points and seven boards.

Eastside's win bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Spartanburg, they moved to 9-11 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eastside will venture away from home to square off against Gaffney at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Eastside is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.7 points per game this season. As for Spartanburg, they will take on Boiling Springs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Spartanburg is facing Boiling Springs at the right time seeing as Boiling Springs is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
