Softball Game Preview: Warrenton Warriors vs. Valley Catholic Valiants

For the second straight game, Warrenton will face off against Valley Catholic. The Warriors will head out to take on the Valiants at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Warrenton has four straight victories, Valley Catholic has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Nine must be Warrenton's lucky number: they beat Valley Catholic with that score not once but twice on Tuesday. The Warriors beat the Valiants by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 9-7. With that win, the Warriors brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Lucy Smith was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Davis, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.

Warrenton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.

Warrenton pushed their record up to 6-9-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Valley Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
