Basketball Game Preview: Augusta Beavers vs. Pepin/Alma

The Augusta Beavers will host Pepin/Alma at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Augusta is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Last Tuesday, Augusta was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 77-76 to Whitehall. While losing is never fun, the Beavers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 359th, while the Norse are ranked 156th).

Meanwhile, Pepin/Alma scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran by a score of 69-66. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (61), Pepin/Alma still had to take the loss.

Pepin/Alma has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points over those games. Augusta's loss dropped their record down to 5-17.

Things could have been worse for Augusta, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 64-47 loss to Pepin/Alma in their previous matchup back in January.
