Basketball Recap: Roane County Piles Up the Points Against Marion County

Roane County had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.8 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They claimed a resounding 85-41 win over the Marion County Warriors. The Yellowjackets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 games by 21 points or more this season.

Roane County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aiden O'Leary, who went 8-for-13 en route to 19 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. What's more, O'Leary also posted a 62% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aaron Layne, who shot 80% from the field on his way to 19 points.

O'Leary wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Roane County was working as a unit and finished the game with 26 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Roane County's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 26-3. As for Marion County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Roane County has already played their next contest, a 66-48 win against Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences on the 4th. Marion County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
