Baseball Game Preview: Berthoud Spartans vs. Wellington Eagles

For the second straight game, Berthoud will face off against Wellington. The Spartans will look to defend their home field on Monday against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m.

Berthoud is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest defeat since March 31st on Saturday. They fell just short of Wellington by a score of 6-4.

For Wellington's part, Carter Weedin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Wellington's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tanner McLean, who went 2-for-3 with two runs. McLean has become a key player for the Eagles: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-15 otherwise. Zach Blehm was another, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Berthoud now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Wellington, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-15.
