Baseball Recap: Billingsley Triumphs

On Saturday, the Billingsley Bears earned a 6-1 win over the Autauga Academy Generals. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bears.

Mason Truesdale spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Billingsley let Hunter Wyatt and Kyle Boice run wild. Wyatt scored a run while going 3-for-3, while Boice scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Boice has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Manning, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Billingsley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Autauga Academy only posted a batting average of .160.

Billingsley's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Autauga Academy, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Billingsley will take on Comer at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Autauga Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Thorsby at 6:30 p.m. on March 17th.
