Basketball Recap: Burlington Comes Up Short

Burlington lost against Limon back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Burlington Cougars fell 53-40 to the Limon Badgers.

Despite the loss, Burlington still got an impressive performance from Adan Lopez-Mitchell, who went 5-for-11 on his way to 18 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Lopez-Mitchell a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Weston Schaal, who posted 13 points and three steals.

Limon's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brody Scherrer, who scored 12 points. Keagan Mellott was another key player, putting up ten points and eight boards.

Burlington has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Limon, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-8.

Burlington wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 68-58 loss against Stratton on the 13th. As for Limon, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-55 defeat against Byers on the 14th.
