Baseball Recap: Sandy Valley Comes Up Short

Sandy Valley had lost 13 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 2-12 to make it 14. They came up short against the Beaver Dam Diamondback, falling 22-10. Even if the Sidewinders couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

As for Beaver Dam, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 5-13. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

For Beaver Dam's part, they got a massive performance out of Aaron Huerta, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with seven stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those seven stolen bases gave Huerta a new career-high. Ruger Holcomb was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with seven stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Beaver Dam beat Sandy Valley by a score of 14-11 later that day.
