            Softball Recap: Hazleton Area Cougars vs. Tunkhannock Tigers        
        
		
        
        
            Hazleton Area extended their losing streak  to seven  on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 5-8 in the process. They lost  15-0 to the Tunkhannock Tigers. The Cougars were not able to make up for their  loss to the Tigers from their previous meeting  back in April of 2024.
As for Tunkhannock, their win was  their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which  pushed their record up to 13-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by seven  runs or more this season.
 For Tunkhannock's part,  the team  relied heavily on  Erin Van Ness, who  went a perfect 4-for-4 with one  home run, six  RBI,  and three  runs. That's the most  runs  Van Ness has posted since April 1st. Another player making a difference was  Taryn Newswanger, who  went 2-for-3 with one  home run, three  RBI,  and two  runs.
 Coming up, Hazleton Area will challenge Holy Cross at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. The Cougars will need to watch out since the Crusaders have now posted at least ten  runs  in their last three contests. As for Tunkhannock, they will face off against Pittston at 4:30  p.m.  on Friday.
