Softball Recap: Gustine Has No Trouble Against Waterford

Gustine won the last time they faced Waterford and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Reds were the clear victors by an 18-5 margin over the Wildcats. The Reds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by 11 runs or more this season.

Gustine got a massive performance out of Jaclynn Lopez, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Lopez a new career-high in RBI (three). Leilah Fara was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

Gustine kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win made it two in a row for Gustine and bumps their season record up to 5-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Waterford, they are on a 29-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.
