Baseball Recap: Beaumont Cougars vs. Cajon Cowboys

Beaumont's last matchup with Cajon could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's the pair on Friday. The Beaumont Cougars lost 9-1 to the Cajon Cowboys. Beaumont has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Beaumont saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kolby Martin, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

On Cajon's side, Marcus McQueen made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. McQueen has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive pitching appearances. McQueen was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Issac Fabela looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Gavin Garcia, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, a triple, and a run. Ryan Contreras was another key contributor, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Beaumont now has a losing record at 11-12. As for Cajon, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-11.
