Basketball Recap: Amherst Takes a Loss

Amherst lost against Alma back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Amherst Broncos fell 40-32 to the Alma Cardinals. The Broncos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Amherst saw an underclassman step up: freshman Addy Simmons posted 11 points. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for Simmons. The team also got some help courtesy of AnnDee Jaixen, who scored seven points.

Alma's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chayse Molzahn led the charge by putting up ten points and eight rebounds. Tierston Moore was another key player, earning eight points along with 13 boards and five steals.

Amherst now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Alma, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Amherst has already played their next match (against Pleasanton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Alma has already played their next game, a 58-22 victory against Eustis-Farnam on the 16th.
