Basketball Game Preview: Horn Lake Eagles vs. Starkville Yellowjackets

The Horn Lake Eagles will square off against the Starkville Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Horn Lake came up into this matchup off a tough 33-point defeat on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Southaven by a score of 41-38 on Friday. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Chargers recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Meanwhile, Starkville faced Tupelo in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Starkville took down Tupelo 73-54.

Starkville is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points over those games. As for Horn Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 10-19.

Horn Lake took their win against Starkville when the teams last played back in February of 2022 by a conclusive 58-35. Will Horn Lake repeat their success, or does Starkville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
