Softball Recap: North Takes a Loss

North was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 7-2 to the Tehachapi Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-1 last Tuesday.

Kaylee Simkins was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, North saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Allison Jauregui, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

North's defeat dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Tehachapi, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season.

North will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on East Bakersfield at 4:45 p.m. on the 22nd. The Stars are facing the Blades at the right time seeing as the Blades are stuck on a 14-game losing streak. Tehachapi will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against West at 4:00 p.m. on the 22nd. The Vikings will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
