Softball Preview: Rosholt Hornets vs. Tri-County Penguins

Rosholt is 1-9 against Tri-County since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Rosholt Hornets will be staying on the road to face off against the Tri-County Penguins at 4:30 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Rosholt is headed out hoping to continue their success from last week, when the picked up their first road victory of the season on Friday. They fell 8-4 to Manawa.

Addi Gagas was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. Gagas has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't pitched less than six innings in seven consecutive pitching appearances. Gagas was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with a home run and two runs.

In other batting news, Natalie Rink made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with a home run.

Even though they lost, Rosholt lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, sadly, Tri-County is still looking for their first win of the season after five matches. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Port Edwards on Thursday.

Rosholt's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-3. As for Tri-County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Rosholt was able to grind out a solid win over Tri-County in their previous meeting two weeks ago, winning 12-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rosholt since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
