Soccer Game Preview: Piedmont vs. Orland

The Piedmont Highlanders will head out to face off against the Orland Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Piedmont heads in on the heels of a playoff match on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Roseland University Prep. Considering the last time the Highlanders couldn't score was back in January, the team can't take the result too hard.

Meanwhile, Orland unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 2-0 to Gridley. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 527th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 168th).

Piedmont moved to 10-9 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored eight goals over those three contests. As for Orland, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.
