Volleyball Game Preview: Monroeville Eagles vs. Russia Raiders

The Monroeville Eagles will face off against the Russia Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Monroeville sitting on 22 straight victories and Russia on five.

Monroeville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Open Door Christian.

The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 25-9, 25-18.

Meanwhile, Russia hadn't done well against Fort Loramie recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Raiders won by a set and slipped past the Redskins 3-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (108-101) Russia actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 15-25, 25-23, 25-20, 19-25, 17-15.

Monroeville's win bumped their record up to 24-2. As for Russia, their victory bumped their record up to 21-6.
