Softball Recap: Oneida's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Oneida came into Friday's matchup having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victor by a 14-8 margin over the Scott Highlanders on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Indians needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Melanie Lee was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Kennedy Shoemaker, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Oneida was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Oneida's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Scott, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oneida will welcome Alcoa at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The contest will give Oneida their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season. As for Scott, they will square off against York Institute at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
