Basketball Game Preview: Fort Bend Kempner Cougars vs. Randle Lions

Fort Bend Kempner's tournament run continued when they took on Brazoswood on Saturday. Fort Bend Kempner's2024 ended with a 45-27 defeat against Brazoswood.

Meanwhile, Randle beat Lamar Consolidated 34-21 on Friday. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 600th, while the Mustangs are ranked 1306th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Randle's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-12. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Fort Bend Kempner, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.

Fort Bend Kempner was taken down by Randle 62-21 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Randle's Alaysia Cook, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine steals.
