Preview: Douglass Indians vs. Overton Mustangs
Douglass is 4-0 against Overton since February of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Douglass Indians will be home for the holidays to greet the Overton Mustangs at 1:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Douglass scored the most points they've had all season to find success last Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Carlisle 59-17 at home. That 59-17 margin sets a new team best for Douglass this season.
Meanwhile, Overton waltzed into their contest Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They breezed by Maud at home to the tune of 66-30. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-15.
Kayla Nobles continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 32 points and 12 rebounds. The contest was her seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jamiya O'neal, who dropped a triple-double on ten points, ten assists, and ten steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Douglass and bumps their season record up to 11-3. As for Overton, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-7.
Everything came up roses for Douglass against Overton in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 59-21 win. Will Douglass repeat their success, or does Overton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
