Basketball Recap: Gainesville Comes Up Short

Gainesville had to start their season on the road on Saturday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They came up short against the West Point Warriors, falling 54-28. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

Laklin Shadix was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 20 points and 13 boards for West Point. Shadix is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jaelyn Faulkner, who posted seven points and five rebounds.

The win (which was West Point's fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Gainesville has already played their next game, a 48-45 victory against James Clemens on the 24th. As for West Point, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-47 win against Pensacola on the 24th.
