Baseball Recap: Edison Takes a Loss

Edison had lost eight straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 6-17-1 to make it nine. They fell just short of the Justin Garza Guardians by a score of 4-3. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Guardians this season, with their most recent defeat being a 6-1 loss on Tuesday.

Donyae Thomas made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Edison's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 4-16-1 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Cobian, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Justin Garza, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-15. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games.

On Justin Garza's side, Adam Harden made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. Harden was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Harden wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Luke Trukki, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Trukki has hit this season.

Looking ahead, Edison will be playing at home against McLane at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Justin Garza does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
