Blue Ridge gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Broome Centurions with a sharp 13-3 victory. The Fighting Tigers haven't had any issues with the Centurions recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Lily Mulkey made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Grace Thompkins and Chloe Manley did most of the damage at the plate: Thompkins went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Manley went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Bella Sands, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.
Coming up, Blue Ridge will square off against Wade Hampton at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Broome, they will welcome Seneca at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Broome is coming into the game on a 16-game losing streak dating back to last season.
