It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Rio Rancho had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past the Sandia Matadors 47-17. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Rams considering their 12-point performance the contest before.

Jj Arellano continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 162 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries, while also throwing for 193 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 passes. His longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. 181 of Arellano's passing yards were hauled in by Jace Pitt, who also brought in three receiving touchdowns.

Rio Rancho was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 252 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2023.

Rio Rancho's record now sits at 7-4. As for Sandia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-6.

Rio Rancho wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 43-17 defeat against Centennial on the 15th. Sandia does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
