Softball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Huntingtown's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

With a playoff win on the line, Huntingtown rose to the challenge on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the McDonough Rams an 18-0 shutout. The Hurricanes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by nine runs or more this season.

Jordyn Greever made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Huntingtown got a massive performance out of Madisyn Williamson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. That's the most hits Williamson has posted since back in March. Kayla Ripple was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Huntingtown hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive contests.

Huntingtown is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for McDonough, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Huntingtown will square off against Calvert on Wednesday. The Cavaliers will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Hurricanes surely won't give up without a fight. McDonough does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
