Baseball Game Preview: Dominguez Dons vs. Lynwood Knights

For the second straight game, Dominguez will face off against Lynwood. The Dons will be playing at home against the Knights at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Dominguez is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Dominguez turned things around against Lynwood on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 18-4 margin over the Knights. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Dons considering their two-run performance the game before.

Oscar Villa made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Villa was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He has become a key player for Dominguez: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-6-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Daveon Brim, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, seven RBI, and two stolen bases. He also scored three runs, which is notable because Dominguez is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-6-1 otherwise. Alexis Hernandez was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-5.

Dominguez kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Dominguez's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 6-7-1. As for Lynwood, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-5.
