It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Crown Point had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They skirted past the Penn Kingsmen 4-2. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Kingsmen recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Paige Liezert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 20 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lulu Johnston was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Evi Cuevas, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one RBI.

Crown Point's victory bumped their record up to 30-4. As for Penn, they moved to 25-5 with that loss, which also ended their nine-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Crown Point will take on Center Grove at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans will roll in looking for their 17th straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. Penn does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
