Hiawatha hadn't done well against Perry-Lecompton recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Red Hawks walked away with a 10-6 win over the Kaws. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Red Hawks as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Michaela Williams and Kenzie Nelson did most of the damage at the plate: Williams went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Nelson got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Claire Twombly, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

Hiawatha hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive matches.

Hiawatha's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Perry-Lecompton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.
