Baseball Recap: DuVal Tigers vs. Wise Pumas

After flying high against Suitland last Monday, DuVal came back down to earth. The DuVal Tigers lost 15-9 to the Wise Pumas on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to DuVal of the 19-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April.

For Wise's part, Ray Hicks was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hicks was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, a stolen base, and a double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now stolen at least one in the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Wise got a massive performance out of Omari Swinton, who went 2-for-4 with a home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. Taylor Brown was another key contributor, scoring four runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

DuVal dropped their record down to 6-11 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Wise, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-5.

DuVal will head out on the road to face off against Eleanor Roosevelt at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Wise, they have the luxury of staying home for another game and will welcome Laurel at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
