Basketball Preview: Chesterfield Golden Rams vs. North Central Knights
Chesterfield and the Knights are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The Chesterfield Golden Rams will be playing at home against the North Central Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chesterfield is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home.
Last Tuesday, Chesterfield was the victim of a tough 54-31 defeat at the hands of the Patriots. Chesterfield was down 52-17 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Meanwhile, North Central ended up a good deal behind the Volunteers on Friday and lost 72-54. While losing is never fun, North Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while the Volunteers are ranked 41st).
Chesterfield has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-17 record this season. As for North Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-9.
Chesterfield suffered a grim 66-46 defeat to the Knights when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of North Central's Dylan Smith, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. Now that Chesterfield knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
