Recap: Lake Creek Lions vs. Grand Oaks Grizzlies
Even though the Grand Oaks Grizzlies scored an imposing 64 points on Thursday, the Lake Creek Lions still came out on top. Lake Creek walked away with a 75-64 victory over Grand Oaks. Given Lake Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while Grand Oaks is ranked 998th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lake Creek's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jett Sutton led the charge by going 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 3 assists. The game was Sutton's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aedan Lewis, who scored 16 points along with 7 assists and 7 rebounds.
Lake Creek has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Grand Oaks, they have fallen quite a ways from their 29-10 record last season and are now at 2-10.
Lake Creek will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Bryan at 12:30 p.m. on December 1st. As for Grand Oaks, they will take on Spring at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Spring focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Thursday.
